You rise from the bed and go to the balcony. Out on the point, the castle is free of the flies and stink that bedevil the town.

The sun is just beginning to rise, lighting up the clouds before you in a red filigree. You lean out as far as you can, stretching your arms wide and breathing in the clean sea air, relishing its smell, the sweet promise of distant shores.

This is, you decide, the perfect spot—everything feels just right, the gentle sea breezes, the waves rolling on the shore, the faint clatter and bustle around the castle, the lovely climate. It feels so familiar, you wonder if you were raised in a place like this. You decide that you should stay here.
